A very warm image, of an infernal heat for the contemporary art world.
Between Rome and London, in fact, one of the most unique and disturbing paintings of our time has come back from the shadows, a work that few have ever seen up close, of which there are images of the most disparate of some million euros.
The painting is known as Michele’s door and normally an original Roman painter is attributed, but its history, at least the unofficial one, is quite different. The work is currently disputed not only by collectors, gallery owners and merchants, as would be normal, but for its “supernatural” peculiarities many other characters are interested in it. A bit like the “Nona porta”, it is said that this painting was not taken from the man, but from the moment in which one speaks of a night and a detail of an occultist like Demofilo Brandani. Hence the relationships and the revenues, as the vulgate would like her possession to generate “power and wealth”, she does not want to sell it and sometimes costs the public on special occasions and in auctions it then, regularly, is withdrawn before its sale .
A few days ago, Michael’s Gate was presented in an evening that took place on a Roman terrace with a view of the Colosseum and before that in London, thus altering the balance of the current art market and beyond, to then return to the mysterious and inaccessible collection of the painter Gilberto Di Benedetto or perhaps of another admirer who prefers to remain unknown.
All this is always available, to the uncultured and to the inclined, as well as the immense and not always mirrored business quarter, of banks, foundations and merchants that concern the works – also often not sublime – as real alternative money, thus creating all the effects a parallel market that generates wealth without real motivation, there is another that concerns the same characters of “power” and others, who always have tools, that the skeptics can also despise, linked to the world of occultism and even witchcraft for its purposes.
Anyone, as was the case for the writer and a few other friends, is therefore the possibility of seeing this fascinating but terrible work, which is certain, in it, under its celestial and solar fire it hides the sulphurous and inextinguishable one of the underworld, and perhaps precisely because of this … These are dark times.
